South Korean company Hyundai Rotem showcased the concept of its next-generation tank with various high-tech solutions. The new main battle tank, designated K3, is based on a modular platform with a crew cabin at the front and a power unit at the rear.

The low silhouette of the tank with reduced visibility at radar and infrared ranges makes the new K3 virtually invisible to the enemy. At the same time, anti-tank missiles and other weapon systems will also have invisibility thanks to integration into the turret. The fuselage will be equipped with a modular reservation system made of steel, ceramics and composite materials.

Innovative features include the unmanned turret with a remote-controlled 130 mm smoothbore gun and requiring a crew of three thanks to fully automatic loading.

The driver-mechanic, gunner and tank commander are located in the armored capsule in the front of the hull, in the combat compartment isolated from the autoloader, as well as in the ammunition depot in the middle of the tank. The K3 will have a combat mass of 55 tons and will be equipped with a diesel engine that allows the tank to develop a speed of 50 km/h in terrain with a maximum highway speed of 70 km/h and a maximum range of 500 km.
