NABU plans to use artificial intelligence during the investigation of criminal cases. The technology will help analyze datasets and track relationships.

This was explained by NABU director Semen Krivonos in an interview with Ukrinform.

“We have other plans for digitalization. This is the introduction of artificial intelligence technology, neural networks and analytical tools in clerical work. This technology is able to analyze huge data arrays to separate individual items and suspicious actions. System, traffic analysis, power of attorney, relationships based on records It lets you watch and compose in real time. It recognizes faces, converts audio to text. It’s also self-taught,” said Kryvonos.

Krivonos said that the bureau met with a company that has such an analytical product and is conducting the necessary project work for its implementation.

“One of the simple tasks I set for the developer, for example, is it possible to find out how in Prozoro auctions company X participated in 50 purchases where there were signs of abnormally high prices for a certain period of time? For a certain category of goods? While this company was owned by Ivanov through Sydorov “Sydorov was involved in criminal proceedings related to embezzlement, obtaining illegal interests, and his phone number was revealed during negotiations with some oligarchs. This is the amount of data that artificial intelligence can process,” he said.

According to the NABU director, the bureau’s analysts will task the program with finding the desired results.

Law enforcement around the world is already actively implementing AI tools, but “we want to be in the club of countries that have successfully used such programs,” Krivonos said.

He recalled that once a similar Palantir program, also based on similar algorithms, made it possible to identify Bin Laden.

In addition, Kryvonos reported that the electronic criminal case eCase Management System, which will allow NABU, SAP and VAKS to exchange all documents in electronic form, is currently in the implementation phase.

“Today, the eCase Management System is still implemented in the Bureau. We plan to complete the test and industrial operation by the end of the year and exchange all documents electronically between NABU, SAP and VAKS. We are drowning in the paper routine and deploying this system will save a lot of time,” he said.

As reported, Semyon Krivonos chaired the State Architecture and Urban Planning Inspection before being appointed director of NABU, where he applied digitalization in the process of issuing building permits.
