The UK government said the training will be conducted using VR technology to allow students to practice real-life scenarios at sea.
Ukrainians will also receive financial support to attend three years of student training on British container ships and other large vessels.
“The support that Ukraine’s Minister of Infrastructure welcomed at a bilateral meeting with UK Transport Minister Mark Harper will help protect Ukraine’s shipping sector, which is valued worldwide and plays a key role in grain exports and the wider Ukraine and the global economy,” the message reads.
It was noted that the new package was approved in Harper’s speech at the conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine.
“Our support for Ukraine and its people is unwavering and we will not allow Russia’s heinous actions to tarnish Ukraine’s reputation in areas such as maritime affairs. Sharing the UK’s world-renowned aviation and maritime expertise, restoring Ukraine’s transport system after Putin’s illegal invasion.” said.
In addition, as stated on its website, the Ministry of Transport will support the deployment of Ukrainian air traffic controllers for training in Great Britain.
