At the end of September 2019, Xiaomi presented an interesting concept smartphone called Mi Mix Alpha. This device featured a 3D display with the highest screen-to-body ratio of any phone.
In fact, the company even produced several units and sent them to a few select media outlets. Unfortunately, it was never mass produced for consumers. Almost four years later, Xiaomi patented a new smartphone design similar to the Mi Mix Alpha.
According to IThome, Xiaomi has applied for a design patent with the CNIPA (Chinese National Intellectual Property Administration). This design is somewhat reminiscent of the Mi Mix Alpha from 2019. The new design of the smartphone with a three-dimensional display from Xiaomi is slightly different from the Mi Mix Alpha. The back has a larger unviewed area, located in the center rather than on the left.
In addition, all cameras are located under the screen. There is a single front-facing camera in the upper left corner. The triple rear cameras are positioned vertically on the left rear screen.
The bottom face has a SIM card slot, a USB Type-C port and a speaker grill. The top consists of another speaker grille and two holes, possibly for microphones. Finally, the capacitive power and volume keys can be found on the left edge.
It is known that Xiaomi introduced interesting products at its anniversary events in August. Maybe the company will announce this design concept at this year’s conference or we may not see it officially like many other design patents.
