Samsung will announce its new generation of Galaxy Tab S9 tablets at the upcoming Unpacked event scheduled for July, where we will also see the new Fold and Flip phones and the Galaxy Watch 6 smartphone.
According to marketing materials leaked by SnoopyTech This week, Samsung will launch three different variants, base model, Plus and Ultra as the top of the range. Other rumors suggest that the series will be joined by two more ‘FE’ versions, but that they will be released at the end of the year, always after the regular series.
The South Korean firm would retain the three screen sizes used in the Galaxy Tab S8, 11.4, 12.4 and 14.6 inches, respectively for three models. The panel of the base model would be a simple TFT, but the higher versions would use higher quality and higher resolution AMOLED panels. The novelty that we see in the filtered image is water resistance. No, you can’t put them in the pool, we assume this is to support light splashes.
Samsung would offer many options in memory and storage, 8, 12 or even 16 GB of RAM, while the internal storage could reach TB for the first time in a tablet of this series. The chosen SoC engine is unknown, certainly one of the last Qualcomm from the Snapdragon 8 series.
In terms of design, the manufacturer will continue to bet on the use of premium materials such as aluminum and ultra thin gauges under 6mm to maintain weight. At least two color versions are expected in beige and gray, and accessories such as stylus pens and keyboard covers are expected to increase productivity when we use them on the desk.
They will have a front and rear camera and complete connectivity, with 5G broadband options plus WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, geolocation with GPS, GLONASS, Baidu and Galileo and the usual sensors in tablets. A USB Type-C port would be used for data and high-capacity battery charging, which in the case of the ultra model exceeds 11,000 mAh.
There is no doubt that this will be a very comprehensive range of tablets and Android’s biggest bet to fight Apple iPads. With Android 13 pre-installed, Samsung promises to deliver at least four generations of major versions of the system. The regular Galaxy Tab S9 tablets would be available this summer, while the “FE” (with fewer features and cheaper) variants would launch in late 2023. We’ll tell you about it in Unpacked.
