Cloud service Dropbox is the next in a long list of companies increasingly embracing artificial intelligence. The company announced two new AI capabilities this week.
First, there’s the Dropbox Dash search feature. It’s an AI search engine that brings all your tools, content, and apps together in a single search bar. The system is connected to Google Workspace, Microsoft Outlook and Salesforce, among others. In addition, Dash is powered machine learningThe more you use it, the better the system gets to know you. At the beginning of the month, the cooperation with Google was adjusted.
In addition to this universal search feature, the Dash browser extension also includes a few features:
In the future, you will also be able to ask questions via Dash, which the AI will answer based on information about you and your company (e.g. when is the next paid vacation).
The second new feature was commonly referred to as Dropbox AI. This system lets you see previews of files using artificial intelligence. In this way, you can immediately see the content of large documents or videos without having to look at everything.
You can also get a summary of things like reports on meetings or contracts with one click. You can also ask the system a question about files directly without having to search manually.
Dropbox AI for file previews is currently in alpha and available to all US Dropbox Pro users as of yesterday. The system will also be distributed to selected Dropbox teams in the foreseeable future.
This enthusiastic announcement is undoubtedly a bit harsh for the hundreds of employees Dropbox laid off in favor of AI in April.
