As Lynch and Coldbeck said, they believe that Apple will not be able to guarantee to all Apple Watch users that third-party watch faces will continue to work optimally even after updating the operating system.

Kaldbeck also noted that despite the lack of support for third-party watch faces, Apple offers “a lot of flexibility” in customizing watch faces and the ability to enhance them with complications from third-party apps.

In addition, she still considers the Apple Watch open to this kind of modification. She suggested that developers have the ability to create their own builds of customization apps for watchOS, which could include features such as weather forecasts and displaying quick information.
