The United States government discovered the explosion of the Titan submarine hours after it began its journey to evaluate the remains of the Titanic, according to exclusive information obtained by The Wall Street Journal.
This is a Top Secret system used by the Navy to detect enemy submarines.
However, sources contacted by the United States newspaper demanded that the technology’s name be kept secret, “citing national security concerns.”
Navy experts began tracking the crashed ship almost immediately after the loss of communications, according to a report signed by Ben Kesling, Nancy A. Youssef, Gordon Lubold and Costas Paris.
“Shortly after he went missing, the US system detected what it suspected was the sound of an explosion near the debris site found on Thursday and reported its findings to the commander on site.”
An analysis of the acoustic data concluded that it was an implosion or explosion in the area where the Titan submersible was operating.
