More than a year has passed since the browser. DuckDuck Go Released for Mac. This was a closed beta for a limited number of users. Now the company offers to test its new product to a wider audience.

What is DuckDuckGo’s browser?

Like the Mac browser, DuckDuckGo uses the “base OS rendering API” instead of the browser’s own fork code. On most sites that scan headers, the browser reports itself as Microsoft Edge.

In the DuckDuckGo browser you will find:

• Duck Player that shows (most) YouTube videos “without violating ads” and doesn’t show your recommendations. For this, a new window opens with the player.
• It blocks trackers, which DuckDuckGo says “better than other browsers,” including downloading third-party trackers.
• Enforce encryption.
• “Fire button” that instantly closes all tabs and clears data.
• Check the cookie popups, automatically select the custom option and hide the “I agree” popups.
• Email protection that makes it easy to use Duck.com auto-redirect in web forms.

DuckDuckGo claims its browser uses “about 60 percent less data than Chrome” by pre-blocking trackers. Because DuckDuckGo is built on the Windows rendering engine, it relies heavily on native Windows updates for security.

The new browser has no extensions yet. Likewise, it cannot boast of a large number of flexible settings, pinning tabs, synchronization of passwords and bookmarks. All this should appear in the future during the development of the product.
