Windows 12 is the name by which we know the next renewal of the well-known Microsoft operating system, the successor to Windows 11 and a clear commitment state-of-the-art technology which will mean an important change both in its functions and capabilities, as well as in the user experience, mainly thanks to the introduction of artificial intelligence to create a more advanced and intelligent operating system.

Since the launch of Windows 10, Microsoft has been betting on it offer each new operating system as a free upgrade, if the user of the previous version has a valid license. The idea is good and very positive for users, but with Windows 10 it caused some rejection due to the insistence of Microsoft and due to the problems that the said operating system had at its launch.

It’s an interesting topic, especially these days Windows 10 is one of the best versions of Windowsand because a large portion of users who felt repulsed by it today adore it and punish Windows 11. It also offers a free upgrade to anyone who has a valid Windows 10 license.

Microsoft has not yet confirmed this, but everything seems to point to it the company will offer Windows 12 for free to all Windows 11 usersand that the free update process will be the same as we already know through Windows Update and if the computer meets the minimum requirements to be able to install it without problems.

You must be wondering what will happen to Windows 10, will users of the said operating system be able to upgrade to Windows 12 for free? It’s a good question and the truth is I have my doubts. most likely yes because ultimately Microsoft wants to accelerate the transition to its new operating systems and because it is likely that Windows 10 will still hold a high market share at the time of its launch (theoretically in 2024).

All in all, and in the worst case, if it was not possible to upgrade to Windows 12 for free directly from Windows 10 yes, it could be done indirectly. First we would have to upgrade to Windows 11 for free and once the process is complete we would have to upgrade again to Windows 12.

From what we’ve seen so far Windows 12 will use an interface similar to Windows 11, though it will introduce design-level changes that will see it sport a cleaner finish with more distinct minimalist nuances and approach onwards from Windows 10. It goes without saying that not everyone will like it, but Microsoft is now clear about the future of its operating system in terms of design and interface, and there is no turning back.
