Blizzard Confirms DirectStorage in Diablo IV

Diablo IV is undoubtedly one of the most successful releases in recent times.and it is mainly for two reasons. The first is that we are talking about a long-awaited game with a huge community of players who enjoyed its previous parts and who, thanks to leaks, follow the development of the project in detail. And the second is that, contrary to the increasingly general trend, we are talking about a game that has reached the market with a satisfactory level of development. The latter should be the norm, but unfortunately it is becoming the exception.

And so, and according to my colleague Isidro (who is an expert on the Diablo saga, I assure you), Diablo IV is the best title in the franchise, even ahead of Diablo II (both original and remake). resurrected). And that’s it It turns out that Blizzard is very attentive to all feedback received during the open beta versions of the last few months, which continued even after the release of the final version, which already received several modifications and improvements in the last few weeks.

Unlike what happened with Diablo Immortal, which was very successful but riddled with micropayments, Diablo IV returns to the original formula, but updated in many ways. In addition, Blizzard has also put a lot of thought into the technical aspects. As we already told you when we reviewed its technical specifications, they are very limited, which was proven in several performance tests with different configurations. And the Diablo IV experience is even better with support for technologies like DLSS 3.

If you’ve been keeping up with the news on the game, you’ll remember that it leaked a few months ago that it might be DirectStorage compatible, right? Doubts have been removed since, as we can read in the Wccfts, Blizzard has officially confirmed that Diablo IV will support Microsoft DirectStorage. There is still no information, yes, when it will take place, but the fact that it has been announced makes us think that it should not be too long.

Let’s remember that DirectStorage is a solution designed by Microsoft for the bottleneck problem which assumes the intervention of the CPU in the process of decompressing the contents of the SSD PCIE NVMe storage media. This technology uses the bandwidth between the storage and the graphics adapter, making it the GPU that takes over these functions, which it can do in a much more optimal way than the CPU.
