Microsoft is rolling out a new Insider Preview for Windows 11 that offers even more Passkey support.
The new Insider Preview of Windows 11 is called Build 23486 and it places an even greater focus on the use of biometrics for security.
According to Microsoft, passwords will soon be a relic of the digital past. The new Insider preview of Windows 11 therefore focuses even more on using passkeys to log into a site or app.
On a website that supports passkeys, Windows users can now create one and sign in with it using the Windows Hello biometric authentication method. Users can also complete the process from their phone.
You can store and manage your passkeys from your Windows device settings. Under Accounts you can see how many and which passkeys you have saved. You can also delete them there if necessary.
In Build 23481, Microsoft made some changes to File Explorer’s folder option settings. These included not showing a conflict when merging folders or hiding protected OS files.
Many members of Windows Insider disagreed. Microsoft took the feedback to heart, which is ultimately the intent of the Insiders system, and has already rolled back the changes in this build.
Meanwhile, the Moment 3 update for Windows 11 is available, but there are cases where it will be installed automatically, which is not intended. Nevertheless, Windows 11 is gradually becoming the most popular Windows operating system in Belgium.
