On May 9, Russian hackers launched a large-scale DDoS attack on the sites of Ukrainian telecom operators.
According to Ukrinform, the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine reports in a Telegram.
“The aggressor continues to attack Ukrainian infrastructure not only with artillery shells and missiles, but also with cyberattacks. On Victory Day, enemy hackers launched a large-scale DDoS attack on the sites of Ukraine’s leading telecommunications companies,” the statement said.
According to the State Special Service, the Russians do not even try to hide their actions and publish reports of attacks on the Internet.
Despite the partial unavailability of the sites of some of the attacked companies, their networks are working without interruption.
It is stated that there may be a slight deterioration in the quality of Internet access for some users, but in general, this DDoS attack did not affect either the work of companies or the provision of services to their customers.
According to the State Special Communications Service, this once again testifies to the effective cybersecurity systems that the Ukrainian representatives of the telecom industry managed to build.
According to the service, the likely purpose of the cyberattack is to carry out another information and psychological operation against Ukrainian citizens.
With such actions, Russian criminals are once again trying to deprive Ukrainians of access to the Internet and accurate information.
Experts are taking all measures to mitigate the impact of a hostile DDoS attack.
As Ukrinform reported, Russian hackers continue to attack Ukrainian authorities’ websites and send dangerous letters to citizens to steal personal data, but Ukraine successfully repelled all hostile cyberattacks.
