US Congress imposes restrictions on the use of ChatGPT

The US Congress is reportedly restricting the use of artificial intelligence models like ChatGPT by employees. Axios claims to have obtained access to a memo from Catherine Spindor, Executive Officer of the House of Representatives, explaining the terms for using ChatGPT and similar AI models in Congressional offices.

Due to tighter privacy controls, staff are only allowed to use the paid ChatGPT Plus service for “research and evaluation” purposes. They cannot use this technology in their daily work.

Homes are only allowed to use the chatbot with public data, even when using ChatGPT Plus. Privacy features must be manually enabled to prevent data being transferred to Model II.

On June 15, Alphabet, the American holding company that owns Google, warned employees against using chatbots, including the Bard system it developed. As Reuters wrote, Alphabet advised its employees not to enter any confidential data when using AI-based chatbots. Source
