The team at popular short video sharing service TikTok has started notifying users that support for TikTok Now, which was launched just nine months ago, has ended. TikTok Now is positioned as a new social network from TikTok that allows you to share “daily life with family and friends in real time”. It was released in September 2022.
The format of TikTok Now is almost identical to the format of the BeReal service, which suddenly became very popular last year but is already losing its “sensational virality”. Users are encouraged to “capture the moment” once a day using their phone’s front and rear cameras. The highlight of TikTok Now was that it supported videos up to 10 seconds long as well as photos. The service is described as follows:
Every day, you and your friends receive messages at the same time. You must take a new photo or 10-second video within 3 minutes after that (you can’t upload ready-made ones). At the same time, both the front and main cameras will be used.
