It is noted that this ban will especially affect chip manufacturers Nvidia, Micron and AMD.
Nvidia said in September that US officials had asked the company to stop exporting two of its leading AI chips to China.
A few months later, Nvidia promised China new chips that comply with export control regulations.
But the new restrictions the ministry is working on will apply to them as well. A special export license will be required to sell these goods.
Against the background of these news, shares of American graphics processor maker Nvidia fell more than 2% in trading, and shares of electronics maker Advanced Micro Devices fell by about 1.5%.
