North American company Throwflame recently announced the release of their latest creation, the Thermonator. He is nothing more than a dog-shaped robot with a flamethrower. The Unitree Go1 robot model with an ARC flamethrower mounted on the body is used as a basis.
The Thermonator, nicknamed the “robot dog”, is a miniature war machine. Instead of being used as a tech pet, this robot has been turned into a “dragon” capable of unleashing a barrage of fire on unfortunate targets. The flamethrower is on top of the robot, not in the mouth like a real dragon would be.
The robot has a range of sensors that allow it to not only see its environment, but also measure distances, recognize angles, and determine what it finds. It is capable of performing movements similar to those of a biological dog at speeds up to 16 km/h. However, the robot is quite light, its weight is just over 11 kg.

The Thermonator flamethrower has a maximum range of 9 meters and can continuously fire flames for over 40 minutes. However, the amount of fuel that can be stored is limited to less than half a gallon of gasoline or a gasoline/diesel mixture, meaning users must be prudent about where and when to use the flamethrower.
The robot can be configured to make its own decisions
The robot can be controlled remotely or programmed to make its own decisions – although the latter option may not be the most appropriate. The Thermonator is not currently available for purchase, but those interested can sign up for a waiting list on the Throwflame website.
If you want to make modifications yourself, you can purchase the robot and the flamethrower separately. Unitree’s Go1 model starts at $2,700, while the Throwflame ARC flamethrower starts at $699.
