Seagate has announced the launch of the FireCuda 540 SSD, which means that the manufacturer is entering a new generation of solutions for the most advanced storage interface in personal computers, PCIe Gen5.
The Seagate hard drive focuses on high-end equipment for content creation and gaming enthusiasts. He has support plug and play for compatible motherboards (latest generation Intel and AMD processors), although it will also work on older boards connected to PCIe Gen4, in this case without getting its maximum performance.
The FireCuda 540 SSD uses 3D TLC NAND memory and a manufacturer-optimized Phison E26 controller. Its sequential read and write data transfer speed rises higher 10,000 MB per second.
The drive supports a mean time between failures (MTBF) of 1.8 million hours and an endurance of up to Total 2000 TBW Written. This means that in theory, owners could write and delete up to 1TB of data to the SSD per day for the next five years.
Seagate SSD for the most advanced PCIe is supported by Seagate Data Recovery Service Plan aa five-year limited warranty. Free SeaTools 5.0 software is included and can be used to monitor performance, status or firmware updates. The drive also supports Microsoft’s DirectStorage feature.
The new FireCuda 540 SSD will be available immediately at the following address storage capacities and prices:
1 byte: $179
2TB: $299
The prices are high compared to the average of current Gen4 SSDs, but it is important that the storage giants have now jumped to the latest generation.
