In 2021 to Samsung launched a line of solar-powered remote controls Solar batterythe company is now focused on achieving its goal of zeroing its carbon footprint by 2050, and to get closer to that, it has introduced a new version of control, Solar battery 2023. The new model has several features such as labels for major streaming services, a smaller size, and is made from recyclable plastic.

The South Korean company is currently shipping a model of its solar-powered controller along with its smart TVs in the lineup. Lifestyle TV and very soon the future models of this line will be sent with an updated version of the equipment. According to the team responsible for the production of the new device, its updated version 22% smallerwhich means lighter weight and more comfortable to use.

To have even less environmental impact, Samsung manufactures a multi-part model made from recycled plastic, with the top and bottom housings, as well as the volume and navigation keys, made from 30% of this recycled material.

According to the manufacturer, currentlyproduces about 10 million controllers per year and their production uses about 55 tons of recycled waste. The manufacturer indicates that this production emits 18% less carbon than conventional materials for controls.

In terms of functionality, the hardware has the main touches of the manufacturer’s controls, such as shortcut keys for basic streaming services and a microphone for using virtual assistants.
