Microsoft has begun testing a new access key system that should replace passwords. The new test build of Windows 11 Insider Preview (23486) lets you use the Windows Hello biometric authentication system to log into sites.
Users will be able to sign in to their account on the scanner by scanning their fingerprint, face, and using a Windows Hello PIN.
As Microsoft noted, the innovation is available on websites that support the generation of access keys. In Edge and Chrome browsers, the passkey sign-in option must be in the Windows Hello or external security key section. Registered access keys can be managed in Windows Settings by going to Accounts and then Access Keys.
