SAS is now using the newly announced Snowflake Container Services to leverage Viya’s analytics capabilities in the data cloud.

Snowflake announced container services at its Las Vegas conference this week. The new service enables the operation of containers in the data cloud. The underlying intent is to provide containers for your data, allowing your data to remain in Snowflake’s secure environment. Today the analytics company SAS announces that it wants to use this service.

The best from both worlds

The containers literally bridge the gap between the Snowflake Data Cloud and SAS Viya. Customers using both platforms, which SAS estimates number at least several hundred companies, can leverage SAS Viya’s AI and analytics capabilities in their own data cloud. This is designed not only to save users time, but also to reduce risk and ensure they get the most value out of their data without having to move it.

The Snowflake Conference was all about fraternization. Snowflake also announced cooperations with Microsoft and Nvidia, the latter was even very prominently represented at the fair.
