Last month, Microsoft unveiled its new AI assistant at the Build conference. Windows Copilot is now available for select members of the Insiders Dev Channel to try out. This first preview mainly focuses on the user interface.
To try Windows Copilot, you must have Windows Build 23493 or higher on the Insiders Dev Channel. Also, make sure you’re running version 115.0.1901.150 or later of Microsoft Edge.
To get started, just click the new Windows Copilot icon in the system tray. The AI āāAssistant uses the same Microsoft account or Azure Active Directory account to sign in to Windows.
Windows Copilot appears as a vertical bar on the right side of your screen, so you can use the system at the same time as your other activities.
In this first preview, you can give Windows Copilot commands or ask questions, e.g. For example, let the AI āācreate an image, activate dark mode or request a summary of a website.
You can use the three dots icon to give feedback and report any problems. Microsoft plans to extend this preview to other Windows Insider channels in the future, including the ability for IT teams to manage the user experience in their organizations.
Last month Microsoft already adjusted its API system for Copilot, more in line with ChatGPT.
