What changes did Musk bring?

Musk explained that the restrictions were due to several reasons. The first is to avoid “excessive scale of data collection” and the second – to avoid “manipulating the system”. Musk stressed that these restrictions are temporary.

Currently, Twitter has the following restrictions:

• verified accounts are limited to reading 6,000 messages per day;
• unverified accounts – up to 600 read posts per day;
• new unverified accounts – up to 300 posts per day.

These restrictions have caused unregistered users to find themselves “cut off” from Twitter. New restrictive measures prohibit such users from viewing profiles and content on the social network. Those registered on the network also reacted negatively to it. However, Musk reiterated that these restrictions are temporary.

However, this did not reassure users. Moreover, people began to enroll en masse on the Bluesky social network, the development of which the founder of Twitter also took part. Since you can only sign up for the network after receiving an invitation from another user, the network started looking for invitations. Due to frantic demand on the new social network, which only became available in April 2023, the developers had to temporarily stop the registration.

It is planned to increase the viewing limits

After a series of criticism, Musk said that the limits on the number of tweets users can view will be increased later. According to him, the number of views will increase as follows:

• 8000 – for verified accounts;
• 800 – for unconfirmed;
• 400 – for new unverified users.

However, this situation also caused dissatisfaction among users, and therefore Musk increased the limits of watching for the third time. Verified users paying for the “blue check” can see 10,000 tweets, unverified users – up to 1,000 messages per day, and new accounts – only 500 posts, Musk said.

The frantic criticism forced Musk to justify the set limits once again. He declared that he was “doing the world a favor”. Musk explained this because people are so addicted to Twitter and with the new restrictions they will “start going out more often.”
