When you use a new phone, sometimes it is time consuming to transfer data from some apps from old to new device. Meta starts now A method to transfer WhatsApp chat history easily.
How
All you really have to do is use your old phone to scan a QR code on your new phone’s WhatsApp app. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg (of course) posted a short video on Facebook to show how it works.
Advantages
This new way is supposed to be faster, since the transmission is done directly between two devices and no longer via the cloud. According to WhatsApp, the transmission is also fully encrypted. There is one important condition: both devices must run on the same operating system.
If
WhatsApp has not given an exact date when this feature will be available, but a beta version is currently being tested for both Android and iOS. This may mean that a general rollout is not long in coming.
