Intel Launches NUC 13 Pro “Desk Edition”

Intel NUC 13 Pro is the most advanced Mini-PC series from the chip giant and a reference among the group of compact computers. The latest ‘Desk Edition’ variant brings a colorful touch and refreshed design along with the latest generation of Core processors and is already available in some markets.

Intel wanted to distinguish this series with a white lid and a silver metal chassis, which deviates from the general line of the NUC designs seen so far, but that at least makes it visually more attractive. Its dimensions are as usual 11.7 x 11.2 x 3.7 cm with a 120W charger for power.

The manufacturer took the opportunity to change the location of its many ports and ventilation grilles to better dissipate the generated heat and reduce noise emissions, promising a maximum level of 32 dB for some devices that will have to have active cooling with fans.

These “Desk Editions” of course have their hardware base on the thirteenth generation Core processors, Raptor Lake, which come in more options including those mounting vPro 13 Gen processors for business use. There are also different formats, mounted configurations and also bare bones where the user places part of the components and the operating system.

Supported processors are from the ‘U’ or ‘P’ series for laptops and the ones we’ve seen so far are Core i5-1340P and Core i7-1360P. These processors are equipped with four cores for performance and eight cores for efficiency and integrated next-generation Xe G7 graphics with sufficient performance for this market segment and the ability to power the content of up to four displays simultaneously.

They are equipped with two SODIMM slots for storing up to 64 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM. In terms of storage, they have an M.2 2280 slot for installing a PCIe Gen 4 x4 SSD. His connectivity is quite complete:

  • 2 Thunderbolt 4 ports
  • 1 Ethernet port 2.5GbE (Intel i226-LM)
  • Module with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3
  • 3 USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports
  • 1 USB 2.0 Type A port
  • 2 HDMI 2.1 ports
  • 1 3.5 mm audio jack

The first Intel NUC 13 Pro are already available in some markets, with versions like a bare bones with Core i5-1340P for 499 dollars where the user can use their own memory, storage and choose a supported operating system, Windows or Linux.
