Not fast, but designed quickly

Please note: these are processors that were developed a few years ago. The researchers compare the performance with that of an Intel 80486SX. This is a processor that came onto the market in 1991. So it’s not like the AI ​​developed a turbo chip.

The money for money is sharp. The computer designed the working microchip in just five hours. The researchers estimate that this is about a thousand times faster than a human being. The researchers baked the chip at 65 nm and ran it at 300 MHz.

AI is already being used extensively in chip development, but mainly in a supporting role. “Without the help of AI, we could not have developed Hopper and will not be able to build our future architectures without AI,” Nvidia CPU Jensen Huang said last week.
