Even though it is currently not a strong player in the smartphone market and currently licenses its brand to HMD Global, nokia it is still one of the main holders of patented technology for cell phones. That is why the company has agreements with the world’s major mobile device manufacturers and has just announced another patent cross-licensing agreement with apple.
Leak Shows New Apple Brand Model Will Support Up To 40 Hours Of Battery Life
As indicated 9to5Mac, this new “partnership” revealed between the manufacturers takes place shortly before the expiration of the last agreement between both parties, signed in 2017. Thanks to this new commitment signed between the companies, the manufacturer iPhones will pay a fixed fee for using various technologies such as 5G networks on mobile devices patented by a Finnish company.
the president Nokia TechnologiesJenny Lukander, stated in a press release that she is happy that she was able to fulfill her contract with apple amicably and emphasizes that this “agreement reflects the strength of Nokia’s patent portfolio, years of investment in research and development, and contributions to cellular standards and other technologies.”

Lukander’s quirk of reaching a peace deal with Apple stems from a legal dispute the two companies had during 2017. At the time, the European company claimed that the American company was illegally infringing on its patents.
After several months of disagreement between them Apple agrees to pay $2 billion to Nokia to end the legal dispute between them and agreed to negotiate the use of the patents.
