Meta, owner of the “Facebook” social network, will launch Threads, a new app this week that is expected to rival Twitter.
This was reported by the BBC, Ukrinform reports.
Threads is expected to be officially released on July 6th. It will be available for pre-order on the Apple App Store.
Meta describes Threads as a “text chat app”.
Judging by the images circulating on the internet, Threads will have a knowledge panel similar to the one on Twitter.
A few apps with a very similar design have popped up in recent years, such as Truth Social and Donald Trump’s Mastodon.
Another similar app, Bluesky, has claimed “record” traffic after Elon Musk capped views on Twitter last weekend.
As reported by Ukrinform, Twitter owner Elon Musk said that the social network has temporarily placed restrictions on the number of posts that can be viewed per day to users.
