Twitter isn’t going through its heyday, and Meta, the social networking giant and umbrella for Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, seems eager to capitalize on the situation to launch its alternative: Threads. We knew the app was in development, and now, with the app’s release on the US App Store, we finally have a release date: July 6th, so already.
What is the topic?. It is Meta’s alternative to Twitter and is codenamed Barcelona. As such, the app relies on text and relatively short messages and, like Twitter, allows you to flag, retweet, reply or send posts via direct message. While we couldn’t test it for ourselves, everything points to a very similar experience to Twitter’s.

6 July. This is the release date that appears on the American App Store tab. It is hoped that the app will be available for download from there this Thursday and it won’t be long before it becomes available to the rest of the world. Actually, spoken It will be launched internationally this Friday. You don’t have to worry about usernames, because with Instagram it will be possible to log in and thus protect our session.
data, data. Thanks to Threads coming to the App Store and Google Play, we’ve been able to find out what data the app will collect, and it’s really no less. The app can collect data on health and wellness, finance, browsing history, purchases, identifiers… There is nothing really new in the world of social networks, but in this respect it is no less striking.
A river uprooted, fishermen’s earnings. It makes sense that Meta would want to launch Threads as soon as possible. Twitter has been collecting controversial decisions for some time, such as APIs, the final cap on daily views, or payment verifications. This has caused users most interested in the social network to look for alternatives that, despite all that has been said, cannot replace Twitter.
the target has power. And despite the fact that Mastodon, BlueSky, and company are viable alternatives to Twitter, the truth is that Meta has one important thing at hand for a social network to be successful: power and Expertise. If Meta knew anything about social networks, Threads couldn’t have come to a more apt moment. Now we can only wait to see how the app performs and how many users it manages to attract. Only time will tell whether it will eventually be the new Twitter or, conversely, another offer on the table.
