Samsung is preparing a major update for its Galaxy smartphones and tablets with the new One UI 5.1.1 interface. The patch, which is expected to debut on the new Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip foldable smartphones, will bring a number of improvements and new features, especially for foldable devices and tablets.
The list of devices eligible for the One UI 5.1.1 update includes Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy Z Fold 2, Galaxy Tab S8/S8+/S8 Ultra, and Galaxy Tab S7/S7+/S7FE. However, Samsung may release a patch for other diehard Galaxy phones, but it is believed that they will only receive some new features and improvements.
New features in One UI 5.1.1 include improved multitasking with an improved taskbar that shows up to four recently used apps so you can quickly switch between them. The Recent Apps screen displays the status of each app, making it easy to see if an app is in full screen, popup, or split screen mode.
Another new feature is the ability to temporarily hide the app’s pop-up window by dragging it to one side of the screen. In addition, the update has improved media controls in Flex Mode, allowing you to customize the toolbar to perform various functions, including taking screenshots and split screen mode.
One UI 5.1.1 also brings significant improvements to the camera and image editing. In Flex mode, camera controls such as ISO, exposure, and focus are displayed on the other half of the internal display. In addition, captured images are displayed in Flex mode on Galaxy Z Fold phones, allowing you to select these files while using the camera to share or delete them.
Samsung also makes it easy to move and manage files, especially on devices with large screens like foldable phones and tablets. With One UI 5.1.1, you can select files with one hand (by dragging them) and select the destination folder (or app) where you want to move them with the other hand.
