Proximus customers could not call, text or use mobile data this morning. The telecom operator is working on a solution.
Reports of technical problems in the Proximus network initially came mainly from the Brussels and Bruges regions, but soon spread to Antwerp, Ghent and Leuven. Some customers cannot call, text or use mobile data. The problems may also affect customers of virtual operators who use the Proximus network to offer mobile services, including Mobile Vikings.
Proximus recognized the disruptions early on and informed customers about a solution via Twitter and the website. The triggers were problems with the transmission masts in Bruges and Anderlecht, but it is currently unclear what caused the disruption. At peak times, nearly half of the telecom operator’s customers would have experienced disruption. Cell phone service was restored around 10 a.m. this morning.
We will continue to monitor the situation and will update this article as more information becomes available.
