At the end of August last year, AMD presented its new generation of integrated Ryzen 7000, one of the key points of which is the jump to the Zen 4 architecture, one of the most anticipated advances for some time. However, as we already told you back then, the technology’s intentions failed extend the lifespan of its Zen predecessor 3, launching a new integrated within the 7000 series, but based on this architecture. And as if that wasn’t enough mass for the broth, the same thing we may also find some Zen 2 based chip.
Of course, this has caused some confusion among potential buyers who, when purchasing a computer with an AMD Ryzen 7000 series chip, will wonder what architecture the said chip is based on. So in response (partial, yes), AMD announced changes to the labeling of laptops with Ryzen 7000 APUs a few months ago, creating new exclusive orange stickers for computers with Zen 4 chips.
The coexistence of three generations of architecture in the same series creates some confusion, yes, but it is also true that significantly increases the variety of the offer, so users can find a very diverse range of options, among which they are sure to find the one that best suits their needs. And the same thing happens with manufacturers and assemblers who have more references to create their devices.
However, it happens that not all tokens are promoted in the same way. Of course, the top of the line comes to fanfare in Dolby Vision and Atmos, while the versions debut in a much more humble fashion. And this is the latest case because, as we can read in Techspot, AMD released three new Zen 3-based Ryzen 7000s. Specifically, they are expected Ryzen 3 5100, Ryzen 7 5700 and Ryzen 5 5600X3D. The first two seem to be aimed mainly or exclusively at the OEM market, that is, the assembler market, while the third is aimed at the retail market, so that it can be purchased by end users.
He said he is the most awaited Ryzen 3 5100 because his (then future) existence had recently escaped. Today we know that it comes from TSMC’s 7nm node and that it integrates four cores for eight threads. Its base speed is 3.8 GHz, which can be scaled up to 4.2 in turbo mode, it integrates 2 MB of L2 cache and 8 MB of L3 cache, it has no integrated GPU and its TDP is 65 watts.
Next, Ryzen 7 5700It is also part of the seven nanometer family. It has eight cores for 16 threads, a base frequency of 3.7 that can jump to 4.6 gigahertz and, unlike the previous G version, it integrates a Radeon Vega iGPU. It has 4 MB L2 cache and 16 MB L3 cache and, like the previous integrated one, it also has a TDP of 65 watts.
Third, Ryzen 5 5600X3D It doesn’t even surprise us to the extent that we told you about its imminent launch a few days ago. There are two aspects that are most interesting about this new chip, the first is that, unlike the previous ones, it is targeting the retail market, although it is true that at least in its debut it will only do so in the United States . And the second, as you might have already guessed from its name, is that we are talking about a new chip that uses cache stacking technology inside the package, which means a total of 96 MB of L3 cache.
