Spiro, Elon Musk’s personal lawyer and partner at law firm Quinn Emanuel, claims that after Musk’s takeover of Twitter, a large number of employees left and Meta hired some. The letter also states that Meta used Twitter’s trade secrets and intellectual property to develop Threads.

what does twitter want

Twitter says these former employees still have access to Twitter’s trade secrets and other confidential information. The company accuses Meta of taking advantage of the situation by instructing these individuals to create a copycat app that violates both state and federal laws.

Twitter requires Meta to immediately stop using Twitter trade secrets or confidential information. Additionally, Twitter makes it clear that Meta is prohibited from scanning or extracting Twitter data.

How did the meta react?

Meta posted a response to the Twitter letter in the Threads app. Meta’s director of communications, Andy Stone, denied Twitter’s claims, saying that he was not a former Twitter employee on the Threads development team, calling the allegations unfounded.

Twitter CEO Elon Musk commented on the situation surrounding the possible lawsuit on Twitter.

Competition is good, fraud is not.

Amid possible lawsuits, the outcome of this dispute could have significant ramifications for the future of Threads and the protection of intellectual property in the social networking industry.

Meta doesn’t seem too concerned about the situation, perhaps due to its history of threats of legal action from Twitter. Just a few months ago, Twitter accused Microsoft of abusing its API through integration with certain Microsoft products.

Threads service was launched by Meta on Wednesday evening, July 5, with first access to celebrities and brands. In less than 24 hours since the app’s launch, it has already attracted more than 30 million users. According to internal data obtained by The Verge, users have already created more than 95 million threads.
