This is stated in a letter sent by Twitter attorney Alex Spiro to the head of Meta Mark Zuckerberg, Ukrinform reported, citing Reuters.

In his letter, Spiro accused Meta of hiring former Twitter employees who allegedly had and continue to have access to Twitter’s trade secrets and other highly classified information.

“Twitter intends to strictly enforce its intellectual property rights and urges Meta to take immediate action to stop using Twitter’s trade secrets or other confidential information,” Spiro wrote in the letter.

A Reuters source familiar with the letter confirmed the contents of the letter.

At the same time, Meta denied the accusations. “No one on the Threads engineering team is a former Twitter employee,” Meta spokesperson Andy Stone said in a Threads post.

In response to a tweet referring to this news, Musk wrote “competition is good, fraud is not”.

According to intellectual property law experts, suing Meta for stealing Twitter’s trade secrets will require much more detail than is contained in the letter.

“The mere fact that former Twitter employees (which Twitter itself fired or fired) were hired and Facebook created a somewhat similar site is unlikely to support the trade secret claim,” he said.

On July 6, Meta reportedly launched Threads, a text messaging service expected to compete with Twitter. Threads has a control panel similar to the one found on Twitter.
