Teledyne FLIR is testing a new camouflage material designed to render soldiers and military equipment “invisible” to enemy thermal imaging cameras. This innovative approach opens up new opportunities to improve the safety and efficiency of military operations.

The developers of the Teledyne FLIR company are trying to bring to the market camouflage materials that can hide equipment and personnel of various wavelengths used by thermal imagers. This means that the new camouflage will be effective against both shortwave thermal imagers like the FLIR A62/61 and medium and longwave devices like the FLIR X8500 and FLIR A70 respectively.

To ensure camouflage compatibility, Teledyne FLIR testers use three different models of FLIR thermal imaging cameras. Each camera operates at a specific wavelength and has its own characteristics and characteristics. On the other hand, the FLIR X8500 and FLIR A70 thermal imagers of medium and long waves have greater sensitivity to thermal radiation and the ability to detect objects at long distances. They are effective at detecting heat signatures, making them useful for long-range target detection and tracking.
