Samsung takes the lion’s share of sophisticated smartphone sales. But competition is heating up with products from companies like Oppo, Motorola, and Vivo, and things could get tougher with OnePlus products next year.

Tipster Max Jambore shared a mysterious teaser image on Twitter that hints at OnePlus’ intention to launch a smartphone in 2023. In fact, Jambore confirmed in a private conversation with PhoneArena that several advanced smartphones will appear.

It is not clear at this stage what form factor these sophisticated devices will take, but in recent months there have been rumors about a model based on the Oppo Find N. The latter is particularly exciting as it has a shorter but wider shape. More factors than the competing Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 gives users access to a more affordable external display and compact device overall.

Along with this device, OnePlus could launch a smaller and more affordable competitor, the Galaxy Z Flip, or even something more complex and intriguing like the triple device Samsung is said to be working on.

But whatever the design, the most interesting aspect of these upcoming launches may be OnePlus’ international focus, making them the first non-Samsung advanced devices to truly be available worldwide. Vivo, Oppo and Xiaomi have introduced advanced devices in recent months, but they are focused on China. International customers are now pretty limited in their choices and OnePlus can fill the void.
