Global cloud services revenue will reach $545.8 billion by 2022. The calculated IDC. The amount represents an increase of 22.9 percent compared to 2021. Software-as-a-Service is the main growth driver. SaaS accounts for about 45 percent of total revenue.
Infrastructure-as-a-Service is in second place by a wide margin. IDC states that IaaS accounts for 21.2 percent of revenue, followed by PaaS with 17 percent market share. Finally, the analysts distinguish System Infrastructure Software-as-a-Service, with this category accounting for 16.7 percent of sales.
The public market continues to be dominated by the same major players. IDC lists five major parties today. Microsoft, AWS and Google are the traditional giants, but Salesforce and Oracle are also among the top players thanks to their SaaS offerings. They are responsible for 41 percent of total global sales and grew by 27.3 percent compared to 2021.
According to the agency, cloud growth will continue for a while. The drive to save is more than offset globally by the rise of generative AI. Companies take this into account in their future plans. Cloud providers will again play an important role for AI.
