Ukrainian Defense Industry Complex develops anti-aircraft missile systems projects. Some complexes have already passed flight tests, and we can come to the disappointing conclusion that the products have already passed the initial design stage and are at the initial prototype stage.
“We have many projects that we are focusing on. Two projects have passed the first flight tests. Both are successful. We are doing everything to speed up the work,” he said.
Perhaps these projects are a continuation of pre-war developments, and this is also confirmed by the drawing published by the minister, which depicts the Koral medium-range anti-aircraft missile. Pre-war prototypes that may be ready could include a short-range anti-aircraft missile complex with the RK-10 missile.
The Koral air defense system is a Ukrainian anti-aircraft guided missile for medium-range air defense systems. It has been developed by the state-owned organization KB “Promin” since 2016. The product should become a basic unified missile of modular design for ship and land-based anti-aircraft missile systems and air force.
Features:
Maximum firing range: 30 km.
Maximum altitude to hit targets: 10km
Maximum flight speed: 1100 m/s
Routing system: INS+ARGSN
Mass of the rocket: 300 kg
Weight of warhead: 25 kg
According to KB Promin’s statements, the project uses solutions developed in other projects of the enterprise. This can reduce the time required for system development.
The universal guided missile in the transport launch container RK-10 with interchangeable warheads is designed to hit fixed and mobile armored targets with dynamic protection, small ships (boats) and air targets. Its developer is also Promin KB.
The anti-aircraft variant of the R-10-OF is equipped with a 130 mm high-explosive warhead with a shock core and a contactless fuze. The missile is designed for use in mobile anti-aircraft missile systems. In addition, the missile is capable of penetrating armor up to 120 mm.
Guidance and control is carried out using a laser beam with target tracking in automatic mode. The new complex will be able to fight air targets in direct line of sight at a distance of up to 10 km and at an altitude of up to 5 km.
There were projects of more powerful anti-aircraft missile systems in Ukraine. “Promin” CB presented a medium-range SD-300 complex with a range of up to 100 km for any aerodynamic and ballistic targets. According to the developers, the development will take two years with the necessary funding.
KB “Pivdenne” presented a universal long-range anti-aircraft missile system “Kilchen” with a range of up to 280 km. The terms of development of the first sample and tests of the complex, announced in 2021, were 5 years. Source
