The company L3Harris has modernized the new “space EW” Meadowlands, soon the system will be ready to effectively “jam” the satellites of China and Russia in space. The new system is designed to create temporary, “reversible” interference to communications satellites. The Meadowlands mobile gun needs to “jam” the enemy’s spaceship in the early stages of a gunfight.

The Meadowlands program is a more streamlined version of “space EW,” launching in early 2020. And although this system was planned to be commissioned 2 years ago, the launch was delayed due to technical problems.

Space Systems Command officials said that the problems encountered during the tests were resolved and the program was in the final stages of testing. The agency added that the technical issues were caused by issues that required complex rework of nodes. Now, instead of the 14 equipment racks found in the previous version of the Meadowlands, the new one is equipped with radar dishes mounted on wheeled trailers with only two racks, simplifying deployment.

Reducing the area and increasing the capacity of Meadowlands will greatly improve its functions.said Charles Galbreth, a senior fellow at the Air Force Association.

China currently uses about 400 satellites for remote sensing, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, according to Major General Gregory Gagnon, the Space Force’s deputy chief of space operations for intelligence.

“The satellite navy in orbit can track us, see us, transmit data to command networks, and expose US forces to risks we didn’t even know we had,” added Gagnon. Representatives of the US Space Forces announced plans to build 30 units from the upgraded Meadowlands system. Source
