The operation, coordinated by the Mexican Attorney General’s Office and the US Department of Justice, began June 23 in Nogales, Sonora, where five people from the “prolific drug cartel” were arrested, whose name has not been released.
120,000 fentanyl tablets were also seized there, seven kilos of methamphetamine, eight kilos of heroinseven kilos of cocaine, three machine guns, a gun and a car.
At the same time, seven people were arrested in the United States operating within the same drug trafficking network, all of them from Arizona, except for one who is from Mexico.
“Transnational Drug Cartels” pose an unprecedented threat to public safety United States and Mexico,” US Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement.
