Several trucks were seen arriving on Friday at the border between Eagle Pass and Piedras NegrasCoahuila.
They were loaded by the dozens orange buoys to be placed in Rio Bravo as a state government measure to “stop the flow of migrants”.
Thus, Greg Abbott’s government set about building “floating wall” which will be located in Rio Bravo, which the governor announced last June.
He explained that this is an experimental border barrier that can be turned into a multi-kilometer structure.
“Installation begins today new sea barrier on the Rio Grande,” Abbott wrote, “the Texas DPS (Department of Public Safety) is overseeing the Eagle Pass project.
This is the latest effort in a controversial Abbott Operation Lone Star Programwhich uses the state Department of Public Safety and National Guard troops to arrest immigrants on state trespass charges, among other things to discourage immigrants from crossing the border.
Many aspects of Operation Lone Star are disputed in court.
In accordance with Texas Public Radio Eagle Pass, located two and a half hours from San Antonio, has become on a heavily rugged section of the Rio Grande in recent years.
