Do you work at home or in the office? A new feature in Google Calendar lets you post your work location to shared calendars throughout the day.
It is no longer uncommon for employees to work from other locations. In a hybrid work model, clear communication about who works where is important. Google is therefore announcing a new feature for the Calendar app that will allow users to tell their colleagues which days they work from home and which days they come to the office. In this way, physical and virtual meetings can be planned more efficiently.
Experienced Google Workspace users will rightly notice that since 2021 you can share your location via the calendar. This is an extension of this function. If your place of work changes during the day, for example you still work at home in the morning but come to the office in the afternoon, you can now state this as well.
To share your location via the calendar, create a new event and select Workplace as event type. You then set a time frame and choose between the location options Home And Office. The event is now on your calendar and visible to anyone the calendar is shared with.
The feature is currently only available for all paid Workspace subscriptions, except for the cheapest Workspace Business Starter pack.
