Intel Raptor Lake Refresh release date, performance and new details

Intel Raptor Lake Refresh will the next generation of high-performance processors from the desktop chip giant. We know that it could be introduced on September 19 using the Intel Innovation event scenario, although until now we had no concrete details on its possible launch date.

That changed thanks to a supposed leak that left us with both a release date and new interesting details. Intel Raptor Lake Refresh is expected to arrive between October 17 and 23 this yearand according to new information, it looks like there will be some important changes for certain models.

One of the most interesting models in this sense would be the Intel Core i7-14700K, which would have a configuration 8 high-performance Raptor Cove cores and 12 high-performance Gracemont cores. This means that it will have four more high-performance cores than the Intel Core i7-13700K, which, as many of our readers remember, comes in a configuration of 8 high-performance cores and 8 high-efficiency cores.

This change would leave the door open possible Intel Core i5-14600K with a configuration of 8 high-performance cores and 8 high-efficiency cores.and, although it is not confirmed, so you should take it with a grain of salt, since it is only a possibility (although it makes sense to see the Intel Core i7-14700K change).

We’ll see how these new Intel Core Gen14 for desktops end up being configured, although the important thing is that eventually it looks like we’ll see changes that it will go beyond simply increasing the work frequency, at least for some models of this generation. It is also said that they will have faster DDR5 memory support and that said support will start from 6400 MHz configurations.

The first benchmark of the Intel Core i7-14700K has also been leaked, allowing us to unofficially confirm this configuration of 8 P cores and 12 E cores. This CPU will have a total of 20 cores and 28 threads.

LGA1700 socket motherboards will be supported Thanks to the Intel Raptor Lake Refresh processors, this means that this socket will have quite a long life as it will be able to run a total of three generations of Intel processors, the Alder Lake, Raptor Lake and Raptor Lake Refresh series. We will need, yes, update the BIOS.

We will see a change in the socket with the introduction of Intel Arrow Lake processors, which will happen in 2024. These new CPUs will use the LGA1851 socket and the 800 series chipsetand theoretically they will be made with Intel 20A nodes (CPU block) and TSMC 3nm node (GPU block).
