Visits to the ChatGPT website and app downloads have both fallen for the first time since its launch last November.

Also, some companies are already banning the use of ChatGPT to prevent employees from providing the bot with sensitive information that might be leaked. Not illogical, because AI models need up-to-date data to be as efficient as possible.

Reasons

The current decline could have several explanations. ChatGPT, for example, is very popular with students and high school students who had things to do in June other than writing a book review.

Executing an AI model also requires enormous computing power. The drop in quality on OpenAI’s flagship product could simply be a power saving measure by the company. Less power for the system, less accurate information.

It may also be that AI companies have already reduced the performance of their models due to the stricter rules within the EU. Of course, that doesn’t mean OpenAI agrees to it now.
