Hackers attack Lithuania on the eve of NATO summit in Vilnius

The media directly points to Russia as the source of these attacks. It was noted that the Kremlin wanted to disrupt the summit with the help of the NoName hacker group. He has already “tiled” several sites related to transport and tourism in the capital of Lithuania.

what is known

Victims of the attack include the tourist resource GoVilnius and the m.Ticket site, which allows users to plan trips around the Lithuanian capital. These two incidents occurred in conjunction with an intrusion into the computing systems of a regional radio station and a shopping mall. According to the local news agency Lietuvos nacionalinis radijas ir televizija (LRT), the hackers broadcast a message to NATO calling for negotiations rather than war and propaganda against arms supplies to Ukraine. Eyewitnesses who managed to hear the message say that the message was recorded using Google Translate voiceover, therefore, not only the sound, but also the vocalization of the sentences in some places was incorrect and was clearly translated from Russian.

Provocation stopped quicklybut the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC), which has also confirmed a DDoS attack on the capital’s transportation services, is urging the public to stay vigilant and experts watch out for their most vulnerable systems.

“DDoS attacks against our country are happening again as we speak”, – says NCSC head Ludas Ališauskas. He adds that this is not the first case of a hybrid attack in Lithuania where a cyber incident was used to spread disinformation.
