NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Space Telescope photographed the Rho Ophiuchus molecular cloud in the constellation Ophiuchus on its first anniversary in space.

This was reported by the NASA observatory, Ukrinform reports.

“In just one year, the James Webb Space Telescope changed humanity’s view of space, peering into dust clouds and seeing light from the far reaches of the universe for the first time. NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said, “Each new image gives scientists around the world something they could never have imagined. “It’s a new discovery that gives us the opportunity to ask and answer questions.”

To celebrate its first anniversary in space, the telescope photographed the Ro Ophiuchus molecular cloud, the closest star forming region to Earth. The distance to the cloud is 390 light-years, and the telescope was able to take a “close-up” photo with no stars in the space in between.

“James Webb’s image of Rho Ophiuchus allows us to see a very short period of a star’s life cycle with new clarity. “Our sun went through such a phase a long time ago,” said Klaus Pontoppidan, a James Webb project scientist at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore. and now we have the technology to see the beginning of the history of another star,” he said.

As reported by Ukrinform, the NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb space telescope photographed the galaxy NGC 3256 in the Vitrila constellation.
