Samsung files patent for robot technology that detects emotions in pets

Samsung Electronics Inc. has recently applied for a number of robotics patents in the United States, demonstrating its commitment to exploring robots as a potential growth sector. The patents cover a range of applications, including walking aids and pet tracking machines, and demonstrate Samsung’s focus on developing innovative robotics.

Samsung’s robotics patents bring us closer to a technologically advanced lifestyle

One of the patents relates to robotic technology specifically designed to monitor pets’ movements and detect their emotions. Unlike robot pets that require manual control, Samsung’s robot has autonomous capabilities. In the form of a circular device with two wheels, it can monitor pets in real time. The robot uses a built-in camera to analyze pet behavior patterns, allowing it to accurately detect emotions and movements. Additionally, built-in microphones enable the robot to recognize the sounds that pets make, facilitating interactive communication with pet owners.

Samsung Electronics has also filed a patent for a robot walking assistant designed for personal use. The robot, which is expected to be part of BotFit, Samsung’s upcoming health robot brand, aims to help people with limited mobility, especially the elderly. Working on pre-programmed routes, it ensures smooth and safe movement even when communication is interrupted due to device errors. It is noteworthy that the device received ISO 13849 certification.

Samsung Bot Fit

Samsung Electronics’ patented robotic finger has attracted attention with its potential applications in industrial, medical and home environments. The robot finger consists of two sensors that enable it to detect and grasp objects.

Addressing the need to effectively disinfect public spaces during epidemics of infection, Samsung Electronics has developed a robot sprayer. This machine uses sensors to identify areas that need disinfection and provides an automated solution to effectively combat the spread of disease.

Another prominent patent concerns technology that enables robots to sense different heights on their path. In addition, Samsung Electronics has specially developed a sensor for automatic charging, which simplifies the process of charging robotic devices.

Underlining its commitment to expand its presence in the robotics industry, Samsung Electronics has created a dedicated team of robotic engineers. The company’s focus on innovation is expected to lead to the launch of an assistive walking device this year, which further underlines its commitment to improving mobility solutions.
