Preparing for the official announcement of the new Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 foldable smartphones, Samsung saw a major leak revealing potential device prices. Reports released this week indicate that models may cost more than previous models.

The launch of the devices is expected to happen within the next few weeks, but a number of information is being released in the meantime. Portal Dealabs reported that both Fold 5 and Flip 5 price will be higher this yearat least in France and for the base model.

If the rumors are true, users can expect the Galaxy Z Flip 5 from €1,199 for the base 256GB version. Values ​​are gradually increasing, the cost is 1339 euros (512 GB). Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will cost €1,899 (256GB), €2,039 (512GB) and €2,279 (1TB). At the current exchange rate, prices range from R$6,400 to R$12,200.

Prices for Samsung smartphones tend to vary by region, but those amounts represent an increase of around €100, with the Fold 4 starting at €1,799 and the Flip 4 starting at €1,109 in the country. If we can expect a similar price hike in the United States, the Fold 5 and Flip 5 will cost $1,899 and $1,099 respectively.

A price increase would certainly be an interesting move for Samsung, especially given the increased competition in the foldable device market in 2023 in key markets such as the US. Plus, aside from the Flip 5’s new external display, there’s little to nothing new about these updated foldables.

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is expected to have an improved hinge with a small gap when folded, while the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is likely to feature a larger 3.4-inch external display much like the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra.
