A select group of users in the US now have NotebookLM, Google’s new artificial intelligence note-taking app.
What was introduced at I/O as Project Tailwind is now available as NotebookLM to a select US audience. It’s the latest AI-powered note-taking app from Google Labs.
NotebookLM combined language models (hence the LM) with your own data. According to Google, you can create and train your own personalized AI assistant with information that is personally relevant to you.
First, NotebookLM will start with specific Google Docs for the user to choose from, but the company assures that other possible sources will follow soon. Once you’ve selected your documents, there are three important things to start with:
Google lets the system back up its answers with citations, which you can see from the documents used. This gives you, the user, additional control over what the AI will reply to you. This should reduce the risk of hallucinations.
It is not yet known when NotebookLM will be available outside of the USA. There is even a waiting list for American users. However, if you already want to start with Google AI, Google Bard is available in our country from today.
