United States to launch satellites to track hypersonic weapons

Vice Admiral John Hill, director of the Pentagon’s Missile Defense Agency, said the US Department of Defense plans to launch two prototype satellites in March 2023 to monitor hypersonic and ballistic missiles.

“We will launch two interactive prototype satellites in March 2023,” he said.

He announced that both spacecraft will be launched into orbit so that they can observe operational responsibility tests of the US Armed Forces Indo-Pacific Command. According to Hill, in the future it will be possible to create an entire satellite group.

To date, three private companies competing with each other are working on the project, one or two of which will be selected for further work.
